SYNOPSIS:  One of the most recognized authors in Christian fiction delivers a surprising tale about a man whose God-given soul mate is already married.

INSPIRATIONAL FICTION |4| Darlene Mitchell

REVIEW:  Dr. Neil Solomon Taylor is the single, successful, vigorous, forty-five year old director of Kingdom Builder’s Academy. Living the life of a bona fide bachelor, Neil easily confesses that his greatest joy and excitement comes from interacting and mentoring his KBA students. Continuing to struggle with the unexpected death of his brother, Dwayne and a failed marriage, leaves Neil unwilling to minister using his anointed voice without Dwayne, and promising to never love a woman again. As a deacon of Kingdom Builder’s Christian Center, under the instruction and guidance of his best friend and Pastor Charles “C.J.” Loather, Jr., Neil learns that God’s anointing on his life will not be denied. Like Jonah in the belly of the whale due to disobedience, Neil finds himself being constantly called upon to minister, while his heart swells with affection and desire for the mother of one of his students, who is fifteen years his senior and sporting a wedding ring...Shaylynn Ford.

Shaylynn Ford is the young, pregnant, grieving widow of murdered Mayor, Emmett Ford. Facing the reality of life without Emmett, after laying her heart to rest with him, places Shaylynn’s will to live in their unborn son, Chase. Seven years later, Shaylynn is living in Atlanta, owning Shay’s Décor while Chase attends KBA. Without a heart to give to another man and Chase, the center of her life, Shaylynn, feels the attraction to Neil, yet refuses to acknowledge it, hence denying herself God’s ultimate blessing…a father for her son and a living man to love her unconditionally.

SONG OF SOLOMON is a poignant, page turning, second chance love story that centers on the reality of coping with life after the death of a loved one. Kendra Norman-Bellamy utilizes a strong storyline in conjunction with common bonds of the main characters as well as bold and diverse supporting characters like C. J., Ms. Dasher, Neil’s busy body Secretary and Eloise Flowers, a.k.a. “Ella Mae” Neil’s mother and Shay’s Décor first client, to add laughter, strength and authenticity to the storyline. Kendra wonderfully delivers a clear message to Christians alike that the anointed gifts of God will not be muzzled, for all of God’s given gifts, are ordained and anointed to deliver, redeem and heal.

SONG OF SOLOMON creatively demonstrates God’s Will being done beyond what man thinks. Neil and Shaylynn needed healing and deliverance, and found that their need abided in the sweet, anointed Songs of Solomon. Although the ending left me looking for more and wondering if a sequel would follow, I still highly recommend this book as it will minister to your spirit and stir up the many gifts God has poured into the lives of His People!
