Harlequin Kimani/Romance

1-58314-789-6

November 2007

SYNOPSIS:  Dawn Ajani, owner of the struggling Ajani Consulting, scores a much needed job with Jordan Taylor, CEO of The Medical Institute. Working closely together to revamp the Institue causes each to have reservations about keeping their relationship strictly business. Will they act on this attraction they have for each other or keep it business as usual?

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE:  |3+| Keren Childers

REVIEW:  Dawn Ajani was a successful business consultant until her partner’s betrayal destroys her reputation. Dawn is determined to not only save her company, but to restore her image as well. Jordan Taylor is just as determined to prove to his father and brother that he can run The Medical Institute successfully. Out of desperation he hires Dawn, but is not prepared for her controlling, vigorous ways or that motor mouth of hers.

Ms. Girard gives you a combination of humor and betrayal, with a twist of romance in SPARKS . The story grabs your interest as the main characters, Dawn and Jordan, intertwine together. They are definitely a mixed match, but the old saying opposites attract is so true in this story. Dawn is energetic, very talkative, and eager to please. Jordan can be very opinionated, which has a tendency to come across as insensitivity.

SPARKS started off at a slow pace, but it picked up towards the middle. The storyline involving Jordan and the true identity of his parents was disappointing, I felt it should of played out more. The secondary characters, Simone and David, are amusing at best, but can at times be confrontational. Simone, Dawn’s best friend, is straightforward and is not afraid to tell Dawn what changes she needs to make in her business and personal life. David openly speaks his mind about Jordan’s business affairs and the wrong women Jordan falls for. I think Ms. Girard did a fairly good job on the characters and the plot. Overall, the book was enjoyable and I would recommend reading it.
