REVIEW:  A.C. Arthur has yet another remarkable novel on her hands with SUMMER HEAT. We are reintroduced to Samuel Desdune, Sabrina Desdune’s twin. Sam is a straight forward, simple man who likes simple things. That is until he sets his eyes on Karena Lakefield who is anything but simple. Karena has a jaded view on love thanks to what she perceives of her parents marriage as a controlling one. When Karena calls on Sam for help she finds herself falling in love with him, will her fear of losing herself keep her from love and happiness or will she realize that love is a give and take and she won’t truly be happy until Sam is in her life permanently?

When Sam first met Karena in Maryland, he knew that there was a strong attraction between them and he definitely wanted to explore it. When she calls on him to help her find the person who sold her a stolen painting, Sam sees it as the perfect opportunity to explore their relationship. Only thing is Karena fights him every step of the way. Karena is head over heels for the P.I. but she would much rather keep things strictly business between them. The art buyer doesn’t stand a chance against Sam and his determinations to make her not only accept, but act on the obvious attraction between them. When Sam confess his love for Karena fear overtakes her and she flees back home to forget about him only to discover that it’s impossible. When Sam looses control and gives Karena an ultimatum, they both have to decide if they have what it takes to make a relationship work.

The story takes place in several places. They met in St. Michaels, Maryland. The majority of the story takes place in New York City and Greenwich, Connecticut. There are trips to Pirata and Las Vegas that are influential points of their relationship. The supporting characters keep us informed on the Donovan and Desdune families. They help the main characters realize that relationships require compromise in order to survive. The dialogue is fascinating and helps the story flow smoothly.

I loved this novel. I recommend that you read
LOVE ME LIKE NO OTHER, A CINDERELLA AFFAIR, DEFYING DESIRE, GUARDING HIS BODY, and FULL HOUSE SEDUCTION prior to reading SUMMER HEAT
to get a feel for the series and the characters. A.C. Arthur is a brilliant author and I can’t wait to see who will fall in love next.
