REVIEW:  Stephanie Mason is juggling being a single mother and the running of a multi-million dollar hotel chain. She doesn’t have a social life and gets set up by her mother who feels she needs a man in her life. She has an interview with an applicant for security consultant for the hotel and is impressed with only one resume’ so far. Stephanie prays that she can stop looking once the interview with Jack Kaufman is over. Jack Kaufman enters Stephanie’s life just when she needs a security specialist for the hotel chain. Handsome, intelligent, an ex-navy seal, weapons and martial arts expert make his resume impeccable. Stephanie is immediately attracted to Jack and feels it’s not a good thing to hire temptation. The sexual attraction and tension seems to work against Jack and Stephanie gives him the “I’ll be in touch with you about my decision”. Jack makes importune rounds of the hotel and finds multiple areas that need improvement. To get Stephanie’s attention he locks her office door and locks her out of her own computer. Stephanie returns to her office and is infuriated with Jack because her office and computer are locked. She demands that he return to let her into her computer. An hour later after Jack has had the opportunity to make Stephanie aware of the magnitude of problems with her current security setup, they come to an agreement and Jack Kaufman is hired. So why go to all the trouble, what is it that he really wants? Stephanie is forced to learn the truth and deal with the consequences or lose the one person she truly loves. When Jack’s eyes are opened he does what he has to do to gain everything in life he thought he had lost.

Stephanie and Jack are very interesting and likeable characters. They both feel the sexual tension and mutual attraction to one another but acting on those feelings is a problem for Stephanie. She is the one who tries to ignore and side step the issue. Stephanie took on not only motherhood and the management of a hotel chain but a mother who thinks her daughter owes her a lavish lifestyle. Jack has been planning his meeting with Stephanie for a while and with good reason. He was so wrapped up in his career he missed out on something life changing and didn’t find out until a few years later. The fear of pain and rejection runs and almost ruins their relationship before they realize their love.

Take Me Down is a great story with an accelerating tempo. Sylvia Lett has written a story that has every element in place and keeps you engrossed in the story from the beginning to the end. From the city, to the Island of Jamaica, to the rescue of a best friend from a foreign country. You feel the characters sexual attraction, their unresolved pain and the reason for some secrets. Great story!
