REVIEW: Bestselling author, Brenda Jackson has served up a deliciously sweet read with her latest installment of the Westmoreland clan; Tall Dark…Westmoreland.  Ms. Jackson weaves a spellbinding tale of two people seeking one night of mind-blowing physical pleasure but what they discovery transcends anything they ever imagined.

Museum Curator, Olivia Jeffries has always erred on the side of caution but is irresistibly drawn to an intriguing stranger at a masquerade ball.  She throws caution to the wind and decides to have one wild night of passion in his arms with one condition; they wear their masks the entire time.  Not long after, Olivia spots a tall, dark and very familiar man across the room at another society event only to realize he is none other than her one-night stand and even more disturbing, he is her father’s political rival in a senatorial race.  Entrepreneur, Reginald (Reggie) Westmoreland was all for having a one-night stand with the beautiful stranger but he didn’t bank on falling in love.  When Reggie encounters Olivia again, he is determined to make her see what they share deserves the chance to blossom.  Unfortunately, Olivia is just as determined not to see Reggie again because she is torn between her feelings for him and loyalty to her father.  Reggie intends to win the senatorial race by running a fair campaign but all bets are off when it comes to winning Olivia’s heart.

The book grabbed my attention from the minute I broke the spine and held me to the very last page.  Notable as well, TALL, DARK...WESTMORELAND is a quick and satisfying read.  Olivia is a very likeable character.  She is a woman of values and yet her impulsive action is completely believable with the buildup given by Ms. Jackson’s remarkable story telling abilities.  Reggie is like all the Westmoreland’s from Ms. Jackson’s series: gorgeous and irresistible.  Olivia stands no chance against the sweet assault he launches to win her heart.  Both these main characters and supporting characters are all richly developed and brought to life on each page.

The novel is set in Atlanta, land of the affluent Westmoreland clan and it is great revisiting with several past characters.  Olivia and Reggie’s conversations are very heated and entertaining.  I found even their unspoken communication very discernible.  The dialogues were definitely relevant and realistic to the plot and helped to really bring the characters alive.

TALL DARK...WESTMORELAND is a hot and spicy romance and like all the Westmoreland stories I’ve read, I was thoroughly entertaining.  The characters are spunky and fun to read, the story is gripping, and the plot artfully sculpted.  This is another keeper in the Westmoreland series and I will unselfishly pass the word along but I will be selfish by placing this copy on my shelf of must-keeps.
