REVIEW: Jewel St. John is part owner of a successful
real estate agency in San Antonio, Texas. She loves her husband dearly,
but decides to end her marriage when she finds she can’t give him the
one thing he truly desires, a child. Trevor St. John worships the ground
his wife walks on and would do anything for her, but he jeopardizes his
marriage when he suggests that they allow his best friend, Rae, to give
birth to the child he so desperately wants.
TANGLED WEBS is a story about relationships and secrets. Jewel
was raised by her grandmother who taught her to be independent, but in
the process she has also became unforgiving. Trevor is selfish and
inconsiderate. He never stops to think of how his relationship with Rae
is bordering on disrespect towards his wife. Jewel should have gotten
Rae straight long before she became desperate enough to want his child.
And I could not believe Trevor would want someone, who by his own
admission is carelessly promiscuous to give birth to his child. I must
admit that I was disappointed in Rae’s character. She is truly selfish
and manipulative.
TANGLED WEBS has a series of entertaining plot twists involving
several of the characters. The author does an excellent job of weaving
the stories together and working through the secrets, lies, and
infidelity issues; while exposing the characters vulnerabilities and
strengths. There were times when the story slowed, but the author was
able to transition to a different sub-plot and pick up the pace.
TANGLED WEBS is good, but it reminds me of a story line in a soap
opera. So, if you like a good “soap” you will enjoy this book.
