REVIEW: Victoria Christopher Murray’s light has again shone onto
the darkened path of the literary road, where she sheds light on
darkened situations not often touched by the world. Four women, four
exes, four separate and distinct situations! These become intricately
woven in this tale of intrigue, heartache, grief and friendship. As the
author weaves her story problems are solved, situations are reversed and
persons become transformed by the renewing of their minds.
This excellently written piece of prose, tells the story of four women,
Asia, Vanessa, Sheridan and Kendall. Each woman is at different stages
of their life. Sheridan is at the mature stage of her walk even though
she must come to terms with her lost love in order to take hold of the
new love and blessing that has been placed in her path. Even though
mature, the struggle is intense but Sheridan must rise above the depths
of her grief and become the beacon that guides the other ships towards
the lighthouse of God.
Vanessa’s pain is so intense, that she is bowed under the pressure of
grief. The love of her live has chosen to leave on a permanent basis and
Vanessa cannot deal with the intense pain that accompanies the grief.
Even though she has a personal relationship with God, her aloneness
drives her to make a permanent connection, not realizing that life has
handed her “a period and not a full stop”.
The author uses Vanessa to bring the other ships in line. It is through
her that they are able to better face their situations and come to terms
with themselves. Asia reminds the reader that two wrongs don’t make a
right. She felt justified in seeking revenge on he who she believes have
wronged her. However her relationship with these four women brought her
into correct alignment and with much dignity she is able to come out
victorious.
Sheridan’s case is most intense. Her drama is right at her doorstep and
it is extremely difficult to find the correct medium in order to operate
daily. She lashes out at God and turns away from Him. She can’t
understand why He would allow such pain in her life. A pain that is so
raw that it is difficult to look into the eyes of her betrayer without
bleeding again. Through her relationship with these women, the author
shows the ability of a person to overcome and conquer even though the
pain is as intense as Sheridan’s was.
THE EX FILES is an excellent piece of work! Beautifully rendered! A must
read for every person who is walking through the valley of the shadow of
death; be it death of a love one or death of a friendship or
relationship.
