REVIEW:
Jace Beaumont runs his
family’s hotel, while Sheyna Simmons works with him as the office
manager. They won’t admit it, but when their last competitive game finds
Sheyna knocking on his door in the morning with a maid outfit on, all
bets are off. Their relationship takes a turn that neither one
foresees. The attraction is so overwhelming that one of them has
to make a move or go crazy avoiding it.
Ms. Daniels introduces two
strong-willed characters that are competitive, controlling and very
attracted to each other. Sheyna Simmons is a very attractive woman
that has trouble picking the right men. She fantasizes about getting
married, having kids, and of course that house with the white picket
fence. Jace Beaumont is a very handsome and sexy man that plays by
his rules. He doesn’t want marriage; it’s his way or no way, and
the more the merrier. I really enjoyed the competitiveness between
the two. Sheyna knows how to seduce men and she lays it on thick
with Jace. I admire her will to stick to her values of commitment
and marriage. She doesn’t compromise and she lets Jace know this.
I found Jace insecure about relationships due to his past failed
relationship. He knows he has issues in that department, but it
takes Sheyna to bring him to his knees. He’s a playa and has finally met
his match. The chemistry between the two was so hot and explosive
that I had a hard time putting this book down.
The plot is
unique and different, but very entertaining. The secondary
characters bring life to the story. You have Sheyna’s brothers and
her best friend Brenna, who is married to Jace’s brother Jabarie (Second
Time Around). Sheyna’s brothers are the typical overprotective
brothers who looked out for her best interest. I truly believe
they need their own story. Jace’s parents are bourgeois, but
likeable.
This was by far one of the best novels that Ms.
Daniels has written. I look forward to another visit with the
Simmons and Beaumonts.
