PLOT SYNOPSIS:

Early in 2001, I was introduced to a talented inspirational author, Aisha Ford.  THE WIFE DEGREE, Ms. Ford’s sophomore effort, is a sequel to her debut book, STACY’S WEDDING, and is a delightful concoction of romance and humor.  Most of all, it is about the importance of God in our relationships.

The heroine of THE WIFE DEGREE is Madison Thompson, the sister of the heroine of STACY’S WEDDING.  When the story begins, Maddy has just returned home from college, and is excited about becoming a teacher - a career that she has always wanted.  Everything seems perfect. Her relationship with God is strong, she has an interview for a teaching position, and she is glad to be back home.  Yes, everything is perfect…until Jordan Sanders, the boy next door, reenters her life.

For years, Maddy has had a crush on the handsome man, but while at High School, he was the constant her "thorn in the flesh".  Jordan took delight in teasing and humiliating Maddy.  When Maddy returns home, the Jordan she meets is totally different to the one she’d grown up with.  Yes, he’s still handsome, but he's now a believer, and asks for her forgiveness.  However, Maddy still has strong feeling for him, and is decides that she must be cautious.

The relationship that develops is one that is at the same time touching and humorous.  The shoes are on the reverse feet now, as Jordan finds himself falling for Maddy, but believes that she’s in love with the mysterious “Arnold”.  Somehow, Jordan finds himself teaching Maddy to cook, helping her to impress the man she’s interested in. Of course, Jordan does not know that he is that man.

One of Ms. Ford's strength as a writer is her wonderful sense of humor.  I laughed until tears came from my eyes at the scene when Maddy invites Jordan over, and he offers to cook the meal.  Maddy decided that she's going to help!  Guess what?  I'm still laughing!

Along with the romance story line, there is a secondary plot which deals with Maddy relationship with a troubled teenage girl.  A lot to be packed into a 170-page book...but Ms. Ford does this will skill and finesse.

THE WIFE DEGREE is a very special book about love and the importance of having God in each of our relationships.  I look forward to reading other books but this talented author.  Her next offering PRIDE AND PUMPERNICKEL is due in November 2001
