REVIEW:  Kayla Logan, a single mother of two teenaged girls, has sworn off men after divorcing her emotionally and physically abusing husband. Marley Jarnette has been trying to figure out how to get close to Kayla since he moved into his townhouse a year ago. Kayla is attracted to Marley, but refuses to allow another man to hurt her or her girls. Her girls agreed with their mother’s ban on males when they were younger, but now that they are in high school, they aren’t as willing to adhere to their mother’s rules. They are aware of Marley’s attraction to their mother, but aren’t aware of her feelings until she becomes flustered after he asks her out on a date. That’s when they decide to implement their plan to hook their mom up with the “hottie” who lives “Three Doors Down”.

THREE DOORS DOWN is a fast moving, somewhat predictable story, with engaging and funny characters. Kayla is a strong woman who has been punishing herself by living a strict existence since her divorce. Marley is independent, stable and ready to put bachelorhood and heartbreak behind him. Kayla’s daughters lend themselves to some of the comedic relief in the story, as well as, support for the main characters relationship along with Marley’s brothers. In the end, Kayla must learn to trust Marley and her daughters. Marley learns to be patient and persistent while helping Kayla work through her issues.

THREE DOORS DOWN is a delightfully entertaining story of a mother who attempts to keep her daughters from making the mistakes she has made by alienating them from their friends while they, in turn, try to help their mother get a life. This is one that mother’s can share with their daughters after they have had “the facts of life” talk.
