REVIEW:  Madeline Stone is in the hospital having her second baby when she receives news that her philandering husband’s plane has gone down and there are no known survivors. Unbeknownst to anyone she is somewhat relieved. Her husband is the record label mogul Russell Stone, and what he wants he gets. A prenuptial agreement stops Madeline from getting anything, unless he dies. Since his death, she is fulfilling her dream of becoming a fashion designer. After six years, during Thanksgiving dinner, a man appears and says he’s the lost Russell Stone. Russell’s brother Christopher has been looking for his brother all these years and thinks he’s found him. Madeline, however, is devastated. Once a gold-digger turned responsible mother, she has a lot at stake.

In TO LOVE A STRANGER, I definitely have to admit that I was wrong from the beginning of this story. There is definitely a lot of drama between the main characters. Madeline is beautiful and has the reputation of marrying for money. I wasn’t impressed with her at first, but around the middle of the story I began to like her. She changed and was a good mother. Yes, she was a gold-digger at first; but her hubby wasn’t innocent by any means. Russell is drop dead gorgeous, wealthy, and a womanizer. When he allegedly returns, Madeline never dreamed that she could actually start having feelings for this man. She never recalled their loving making being mind-shattering. He spends time with the kids and is nice to all of them. This man is definitely a stranger to her.

The secondary characters were phenomenal. Christopher Stone plays his part very well and his wife adds fuel to the fire. Madeline’s mother, the one and only Cecelia, is definitely not your ordinary mother or grandmother. She lives to love men and money. These characters definitely give the story that enduring excitement it needs.

This plot, no doubt, has the best twist I’ve ever seen in a story.  I  was completely fooled.  Ms. Byrd is to be commended on a job well done. This book is full of twists and turns that will have you on edge until the end. I definitely recommend reading this book.
