After leaving her cheating ex-husband, Cindy is not looking for love as she relocates to
her hometown of Philadelphia and starts her new business. Attraction to Marc, a
handsome a doctor with offices next door, is not in her plans. These plans, however, change as Marc and Cindy unite to stall the matchmaking
attempts of their mothers. As things progress Cindy must determine if she will look to the future or let fears of past failures guide her as
she gives her heart.
While TO LOVE AGAIN is a well written
novel, it is not one of Ms. Wootson best efforts. It lacks interesting secondary characters as well as an interesting subplot. Marc and Cindy
are likable characters but we do not get to see them as full and rich characters. We see hints of who they are and the challenges they face as
they work at their relationship, but more focus is placed on the physical side of their relationship as opposed to companionship and building
a true relationship.
TO LOVE AGAIN explores the journey of
learning to love and trust after bitter divorces. Both Marc and Cindy have divorces in their past and must deal with self doubt as they learn
to trust again. Ms. Wootson begins by lightening this heavy subject with a liberal use of humor; sadly, it does not continue through out the
novel. The conflict of matchmaking moms that brings the two together gets lost somewhere along the way. What starts as a lighthearted and
engaging romance dwindles into a predictable tale. |
