REVIEW:
TRAIL OF KISSES
is the fourth novel in the Ladies of Distinction series. Michelle Monkou tells
the story of Asia and Trace. Asia Crawford is a health analyst who just loss her
job thanks to the struggling economy. Her sorority sisters decide the best way
to cheer her up is to send her away for a few weeks of rest at a resort in the
Colorado Rockies. Trace Gunthrey is a widower with a twelve year old who is
having a hard time adjusting to life without her mother. Trace decides to send
his daughter to boot camp for two weeks to help get her back on the right track.
In an unusual string of events, Asia, Trace, and Hannah end up living together
and discover that they were meant to be together for life.
Asia was taught by her grandmother to be an independent woman. After a crazy
breakup, Asia has spent the last year of her life focusing on her career. Now
that she finds herself unemployed, Asia uses the retreat to the mountains to
reevaluate and revamp her life. The last thing on Asia’s mind is a long-term
relationship and a ready made family. In walks Trace, who is a judge with a
young daughter that is having a hard time dealing with her grief. Hannah
immediately grabs Asia’s heart and Trace isn’t that far behind. Trace instantly
falls in love with Asia but he will have a hard time convincing her to trust her
heart and not analyze every aspect of the situation. Once Asia moves to Atlanta
to be closer to Trace and Hannah, Trace must make sure that the woman he loves
feels secure enough in their relationship not to run.
The story takes place in Chicago; Brewers Ridge, Colorado; and Atlanta. The
setting in Brewers Ridge is the beginning of Trace and Asia’s relationship. The
setting in Atlanta allows for Trace and Asia to face the challenges that couples
go through and grow closer together as a result of. The conversations that take
place are realistic. The characters interact with one another and the supporting
characters present ideal problems and reactions to the situations.
TRAIL OF KISSES
is a fantastic read. Michelle Monkou did an excellent job presenting Asia and
Trace’s story. She discusses realistic issues that blended families must face. I
truly enjoyed this story and recommend it as a must read.
