~ Review: Trust In Me ~ |

PLOT SYNOPSIS: After having fallen for the wrong man and it costing her everything, Linda Durard is given a chance to start over by working with inner-city kids at a neighborhood community center. But first she must earn the trust--and the respect--of Avery Washington, the center's charismatic owner. They both soon wonder if they can truly believe in each other. REVIEW: Linda Durard is a young woman trying to rebuild her life as she reenters the world after release from prison and the end of the relationship that sent her there. She is given a second chance to start over by working with kids at a community center. To make the most of her second chance she must learn to develop trust with and in others, including Avery Washington the center’s owner. The focus of TRUST IN ME includes not just the relationship between Linda and Avery but of Linda and her family and coworkers. The host of supporting character’s such as Bea, a coworker, and Sheila, Linda’s sister and their relationship with Linda helps to give the reader a fuller picture of the risk and joy in building trust in others. While we are given a full view of who Linda is and where she is and has been, the same is not done for Avery. I would have liked to seen more development of his character through dialogue with characters other than Linda to get a better feel for his point of view and the obstacles that he must face in building trust with Linda.
TRUST IN ME is a good romance. The main characters are likeable and Ms. Wootson does an excellent job of immersing you in the heroine’s thoughts and feelings.
Overall I believe TRUST IN ME is a delightful read. Ms Wootson in her usual style allows us to truly see and feel the pain and joy in finding your own strength to find love even when you’re not looking for it. August 2002 |
