~ Review: Trust in Love ~ |

TRUST IN LOVE by Mildred Riley is the story of Aleesa Haskins and Miles Kittridge. In her genteel and elegant manner, Ms Riley has turned out a veritable United Staes Army of a book. By that I mean it does more by 6a.m. that most of us will do in a lifetime! This book covers a lot of ground with the couple, all of it interesting and captivating, but by the time the book came to a satisfying conclusion, I felt like I had run a marathon with them. Aleesa Haskins, an attorney, and Matt Kittridge, a cargo pilot, meet and pursue their mutual attraction. Matt is devoted to Aleesa and ready to take their love to the next logical level—marriage. Aleesa holds back, however because she is adopted and feels that she cannot commit until she knows more about her birth parents. If Ms Riley had left it at that, this would have been another nicely written ‘sweet’ romance, short and predictable. But there is a lot going on between the covers of TRUST IN LOVE! As well as the mystery of Aleesa’s parentage, there is a near-tragedy involved Matt and a health crisis that threatens Aleesa’s life. It makes for a long story, but one that flows nicely from one element into the next. You will notice that I am not giving away any details. Well, suffice it to say that it would certainly diminish the readers expectations to have it spelled out in this forum! One thing I really liked about TRUST IN LOVE is that there was a nice continuity of events. You certainly have a chance to get to know Matt and Aleesa intimately by the book’s end. There is a lot of territory covered, almost but not quite to the point where the reader might fear that the book would never end. But it’s rather like seeing a very handsome, rather thick man who could stand to lose about 10 pounds—the longer you look at him, the harder it is to decide where the 10 pounds should come from, especially if it’s nicely distributed. After a while you shrug and say, “Shoot, it’s all good”. Trust me. And TRUST IN LOVE for a well-written, heartwarming story that comes straight from the heart. |
