REVIEW:
KNIGHT ON A JET SKI
(4)
by Natalie Dunbar: Suffering
from writers block, author Alexis Calhoun retreats to a secluded island to meet
her deadline. While enjoying the crystal clear, tropical waters she is injured
and stranded with no helping sight. Actor, David Anthony, on retreat at his
island getaway happens upon a helpless Alexis. Each is torn between the growing
tension between each other and the struggle they feel to stay true in their
current relationship.
Hot days and even hotter nights are the backdrop for this tantalizing tale.
Removing the blinders covering their personal live may be the only way these two
can see the path to each others arms. The words used to describe the island have
you feeling that you are a part of the tropical backdrop. The author’s use of
time was well placed throughout the story, allowing for the tension and drama to
unfold not only in the lives of the main characters, but that of the secondary
characters as well. It was told is a way that held my interest from beginning to
end. This is a great start to this steamy anthology.
BABY IT’S COLD OUTSIDE
(4)
by Karen White-Owens: Nevada hottie, Resa Warren, never thought she could love
the frigid winters of Michigan. Accepting a new position means leaving the
warmth of her Nevada home, and the love of her family, to deal with Michigan
alone in the dead of winter. Dr. Clay Shire could be the medicine Resa needs to
keep her warm.
The chilly, snowy backdrop do nothing to stop the temperature from rising as
Resa learns to love more about Michigan than she ever thought she would. Even if
you do not like the cold, you will find yourself routing for Clay and Michigan
to win Resa over. The character descriptions are rich and allow the reader to
get into the emotional side of both Matt and Regina. The authors’ development of
the characters was well done and stayed true to form from start to finish.
RODE HARD
(3)
by Seressia Glass: Two years after her divorce, Regina Lieberman decides to take
a ride on the wild side, on the back of sexy stranger Matt Ryan’s motorcycle.
Smitten with Regina at first sight, will Regina be able to see past Matt’s
deception and take the ride with him for the long haul? Once Regina discloses
her own secret to Matt will they be able to work together and enjoy the ride?
Feelings of inadequacy and raw emotions from ultimate deception are the
struggles facing Regina and Matt. Armed with a new sense of self worth with his
adult success, Matt is determined to win Regina. Will she be able to judge Matt
as his own man or allow her past to ruin their future? The underlying tension I
felt from knowing Matt’s secret held the feeling of more than a novella. Given
the background on Regina, some of her carefree actions were hard to accept. The
story was well written and did offer twist and turns throughout.
ENJOYING THE RIDE
(4)
by Kelley Nyrae: Evangeline Sinclair hits the slopes with her best friend after
they passed the Bar exam for much needed stress reliever before beginning their
new careers. Vowing to enjoy all that the lodge has to offer from indoors,
Evangeline makes a pact to with her friend to let go during their trip.
Snowboarder, Ryan Barnes agrees to help Evangeline let go if she allows him to
show her the beauty and fun the snow has to offer.
Filled with love scenes that are sure to make anyone forget about the snow,
ENJOYING THE RIDE offers a descriptive glimpse at snowboarding while it lays the
foundation for the chemistry that unfolds between the two. The plot is well
written and kept my attention as it unfolded. The reactions of the leads and the
events that eventually drew them together make for a hot read. The twist will
keep you guessing until the end and wanting some private lessons from Ryan for
yourself.
FLOW
(2)
by Simone Harlow: Fresh from the hustle that is New York, unemployed Robey Wade
moves to California with her sister. Determined not to waste her sister’s money,
Robey agrees to the prepaid surfing lessons with sizzling, Travis Anderson.
Letting go of her fear of the ocean, and bent on letting things flow, Robey sets
out to take in all that the sunny shores of California has to offer. I found the
mismatched couple’s love story rushed, making it unbelievable. The natures of
the leads were more suited for a longer novel that would have given time for the
polar opposites to fall in love.
If you are looking for a quick read, with stories that burn up the pages,
WHAT WHITE BOYZ
RIDE is the book. The
stories each hold their own and are guaranteed to thaw you out on a cold winter
night.
