SYNOPSIS:

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE |3+| Marguerite Lemons

REVIEW:  Alexis Hunter, a fifth grade teacher in Detroit, swears off men after finding out that her boyfriend is not only married with children, but also has another mistress on the side. She and her friends have been planning to go to New Orleans to celebrate her birthday for the last three months. She is totally unprepared for the sudden onslaught of emotions that envelope her when she meets NBA pro Massai Taylor. Massai is a rarity in the league, a one-woman man. He is beginning to realize that his current girlfriend is a gold-digger who may be cheating on him. It’s love at first sight when he meets Alexis, but her nasty attitude has him puzzled. He wants to explore a future with her, but he must first handle the “present” problem that is residing in his home.

Alexis is smart, but I like the way the author allowed her to make the mistake of trusting her ex-boyfriend again when she knew better. It is a mistake that a lot of women make by thinking that the man that cheated on them will suddenly change. Massai’s character was a little harder to believe. I just don’t think that professional athletes now-a-days are that naïve, and some of the things he did were just plain stupid. He is simply too weak and it’s bad when the supporting characters call you stupid.

WHERE I WANT TO BE is a quick and entertaining read even though the story-line is one that has been done many times.
