When Robyn Richards, FBI Agent, dies in an accident, her husband Grant is devastated. Unknown to him, his wife's death has been staged and she has entered the Witness Protection Program. She wants to protect him.

Five years later, Robyn's (now Brooke--her new identity since plastic surgery) daughter is seriously ill and the only thing that can save the little girl is the rare blood that she shares with her father--a father who does not know that his wife is still alive, and that he has a daughter. Brooke is forced to tell the doctors about her daughter's father and Grant is contacted.

Grant delivers the blood himself and meets the lovely Brooke. As the child recovers, the two slowly begin to fall in love again. Brooke, her feeling for her husband as strong as ever, is tore by her deceit and struggles about whether to tell Grant the truth.

But this becomes impossible when a villain bent on revenge begins to stalk them. Brooke knows this time that she must fight if she is to embrace her husband's love and make a future for them.

It is hard to believe that WHISPERS OF LOVE was Ms. Hailstock debut romance. With this masterpiece, she firmly established herself as one of the new wave of African-American romance writers. Three years after its release, WHISPERS OF LOVE is as thrilling and touching as when I first read it. It's no surprise that within a genre still struggling for acceptance, WHISPERS OF LOVE is a classic jewel. Very, very highly recommended!
