REVIEW:  Entrepreneur Tess McDonald is a woman not to be played with. She’s sexy and smart, reminiscent of a diva with a darkside. Secrets from her past finally catch up with her, and unfortunately once crossed, she can do deadly harm. Kim Shephard-Benning is a smart businesswoman who built her company from the ground up. Her dilemma-- she’s been crossed too many times and she’s settling the score. Her late husband had firsthand knowledge of this. Nicole Perez is a thief by profession and it’s cost her dearly. With both the lost of her family and doing time for a bust her man set her up for, she’s more than ready for payback. So they get even and dispose of their baggage, but how unfortunate that they aren’t prepared for the big payback.

WICKED WAYS is no doubt a page-turning tale of murder, mystery and romance. Whenever I thought I had these ladies figured out, something else jumped off and I was turning the pages trying to see what happens next. The characters remind me so much of the ladies in the movie Set It Off. Scorned by love, deceit, and betrayal they want revenge. My first impression of these ladies was that they were three ruthless, conniving murderers. But being at a disadvantage by not reading the first book about them, I had to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Tess was difficult to figure out. She used men to her advantage, but she falls for a man that’s a cop. I thought this was odd since her profession was illegal. I found it unrealistic that he would give up his career for a woman wanted by the law. Kim was too paranoid with people. She’s been burned a few times so everyone is up to something in her mind until she gets to know them. Nicole didn’t impress me at all. She has a garbage mouth and she definitely needs a whole new outlook on life.

The plot was full of wickedly awesome twists. There weren’t very many love scenes, which I found strange, since their profession was an escort service. The secondary characters, Tracy (Tess’s fraternal twin), Winston, Charrie, and Vincent, actually created the twist in this story. Tracy’s part in this story still has two many loose ends and I can only imagine that Ms. Hill plans another sequel.

This book is definitely made for readers that love mystery and a little romance. I definitely need to read GETTING HERS so that I can piece it all together. I recommend this book, but first read GETTING HERS. Ms. Hill I commend you on a very good read.
