REVIEW: Powerful! Impactful! Holy Ghost filled, guided and directed. If you believed Promises Beyond Jordan was excellent, herein
lies a novel that exceeds excellent! Talk about more abundant, Wings of Grace melts the iceberg with the fire of the Word and reminds the
reader of the power that exists as a believer in Christ.
WINGS OF GRACE is the story of the legacy of grace- God’s unmerited favor. This legacy has been passed unbeknownst from generation to
generation. But nothing just happens and nothing happens outside God’s season. Vanessa has used this underlying theme to weave a powerful
story that lends to soul searching. As Promises Beyond Jordan tells the story of Pastor Landris, Wings of Grace takes you on a journey of
Johnnie Mae Taylor, his fiancée and the way God uses her writing to bring a family divided and somewhat unknown to each other, together.
Mystery and intrigue surrounds the rich characters of this novel. Love and forgiveness are the ties that bind; fear of lost loved ones teaches
us that we must make the most of the moment we have.
Sarah Fleming, though portrayed as a minor character is the one who lends to the structure of the novel. Mystery surrounds this distinguished
lady and one could easily believe that she is insane but herstory of love lost, of child borne and of being hidden from the eyes of society is
the driving force behind this novel. It is through Sarah the reader learns never to give up in prayer but rather to tarry until God provides
the direction and answer.
Theresa and Lena are tied together through the love of mother and daughter. Lena is determined to be there for her daughter even though her
mother was never there for her. It is her dedication and desire to be a virtuous woman that molds and shapes her character and by extension
that of her daughter. It is this type of character that is blessed, through the hardship, through the rain God blesses in the end. These
characters loudly declare it is not what people believe about you that matter but rather what God says that count.
The supporting characters of Pastor Landris and Sapphire are used to provide the finishing touches on the novel. It is through these
characters that the power of God’s Word is seen. These characters are the son and daughter of encouragement to congregation and to friend. It
is their words that provide the depth the novel attains.
WINGS OF GRACE is indeed an excellent read and is a well structured, powerful witnessing tool providing the encouragement that we all
need at some time in our lives!
