CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE |4| Patricia Sykes-Brown

REVIEW:  Caitlin Lawrence had it all—beautiful, sexy, a successful career as a journalist, personality, and engagement to a handsome, sexy and powerful man. When Caitlin met Cameron McBride, she did not know that he was a successful NASCAR racecar driver. After experiencing the death of her father to a NASCAR accident and living with the resultant bitterness of her mother, she was petrified of making the same mistake by marrying Cam. On the day of their wedding, Caitlin runs away, jilting Cam as he waits before friends and family at church. Years later, a chance meeting in the emergency room of an LA hospital throws Caitlin and Cameron into each other’s path. Are they destined to be together despite her secret, his anger, pain, and embarrassment, or will they fall victim to the McBride curse?

Cameron “Cam” McBride is an incredibly handsome, powerfully built, fearless hunk who appears to have achieved it all--his life long dream of becoming a racecar driver and marrying the love of his life. Despite being in a high-risk, dangerous profession with the odds being stacked against him, his father and brother falling victim to the McBride curse, his woman pulling a disappearing act leaving him embarrassed, hurt, depressed and angry, Cam remains fearless. For years, the former star fell into a slump and was the joke of the circuit, just as African Americans had gained prominence in NASCAR. But as his career makes resurgence, he has a shocking encounter with the woman who turned his world upside down. When Cam sees Joshua, who is the spiting image of him with a fearless persona and determination at an early age, he admirably does the right thing. Cameron stakes his claim to a family he is determined to make his own as the tenacity unique to the Grayson’s clan shines through.

Francis Ray is an expert at creating colorful, creative, and realistic love stories featuring sweet spirited multidimensional characters that are prolific, professional, but mysterious. The female characters are intelligent, independent, yet with tender, compassionate and loving natures. The men are strong, intelligent, powerful, and progressive with the ability to give love and protection to their women and children. So much unconditional love—romantic and erotic, platonic and familial--is threaded throughout
NOBODY BUT YOU.

NOBODY BUT YOU is a fast-paced, sensual, but predictable romance that takes the reader from the east coast to the west coast of the U. S. with NASCAR, which first site was in Charlotte, North Carolina. The tremendous amount of enlightening research enhances the artistry of this master craftsman as she weaves a tale that gives you hope and faith. Reading this novel will inspire you to go and get the one that got away because NOBODY BUT YOU can make amends and evoke that warm fuzzy feeling in spite of any adversity.
