REVIEW: After the sudden death of his father, Myles Dunning becomes the head of the family and CEO of his family’s bank. With big shoes to fill, Myles is hesitant about taking his father’s place at the helm of their banking empire.  Family and friends and more importantly the board at Dunning, are confident that he will take Dunning Bank and Trust even higher. Fortunately for Myles he has the voluptuous and loyal Chrystina Price to help him reach those heights.  Chrystina has worked for and loved Myles for ten years and she would do anything to help him adjust to his new position. Including blocking take-over attempts from enemies within. Myles has no idea how Chrystina feels about him.  He only know that she has always been there for him and he can’t do without her. On the other hand, Chrystina would walk through fire for Myles. When grief propels him into her arms, he realizes he has been blind to the fact that he has loved her for many years.  With the sharks circling, he needs her now more than ever before.

Myles Davis Dunning is the thirty-five year old CEO and heir to the prestigious Dunning Bank and Trust, the nation’s largest African-American owned bank.  He never imagined he would be at the helm of Dunning at this point in his life but a family tragedy deemed it so. With enemies, both near and far, preparing to take him down at every turn, Myles is determined to save his families legacy and not let it fall into the wrong hands.

It is said that behind every great man is a great woman. Chrystina Price would be that woman behind her boss and the man she loves to a point that borders on obsession. She is on top of her game and her knowledge of all things Myles Dunning has no boundaries. And she will take down anyone who dares to rise up against him. This plus-size beauty has more power than the average administrative assistant, which has afforded her some powerful in-house enemies.

INVESTED has everything you could possibly want in a story. Iris Bolling weaves a story of murder, betrayal, a bit of mystery, lots of drama, passion and loyalty just to name a few. It is also a story of a strong African American family with strong values that stretch across several generations. Bolling tells a good story and this one is told very well.  Excellent writing with a fantastic plot.

The multifaceted characters in this story add to all the mystery, intrigue and suspense. I especially liked Jerome and Daisy. They take their responsibilities very seriously. Those two would perform bodily harm on anyone who threatened the Dunning family. Amid all the lies and secrets are humorous moments as well. And in the middle of it all is Myles and Chrystina. Together they are a force to be reckoned with. A powerhouse couple whose love and commitment to the Dunning and each other is romantic, exciting and a joy to read about.  This is good writing at its best!

INVESTED is an excellent start to this trilogy.  It promises to be an engaging and must read series. Once I started reading I could hardly put this page turner down. I wait impatiently for the next story. I would definitely recommend this book. After all, there are more secrets to uncover and more enemies to expose.  Happy reading.
