The significance of Black History Month is even more so in light of the recent inauguration of the first African-American President of the U.S.A. More than 45 years ago, Martin Luther King Jr. dared us to dream...and we did...

This month, twenty-eight Kimani authors agreed to share their own interpretation of the "Yes We Can" theme. So join them as they celebrate Black History Month and share words of strength, courage, laughter and inspiration.

Winner to Receive Cash Prize, Book Contract and National Magazine Feature

COLUMBUS, Mississippi, Jan. 20--Genesis Press announced  that it will partner with Sister2Sister magazine to promote its first annual romance writers' contest. The writing contest coincides with the release of Genesis Press's latest romance title, Singing A Song... by Crystal Rhodes, and is part of a special Sister2Sister Valentine's Day promotion. Aspiring, unpublished romance writers have the opportunity to participate in this national talent search and jump-start their publishing career. The contest runs through April 30, with one winner announced on May 31, 2009. The winner will receive a $1,500 cash prize, a full book contract with Genesis Press and appear in the August issue of Sister2Sister with CEO/publisher, Jamie Foster Brown. "Genesis Press is thrilled to partner with Sister2Sister in our first annual romance writers' contest. We publish several different imprints targeting African American women and believe the Sister2Sister partnership will help us identify new talent and expose our books to an audience highly receptive to romance," stated Deborah Johnson Schumaker, published romance author and Genesis Press executive editor.

"If you've ever considered writing a romance novel, now's the time to whip up those first  two pages and enter to win, " says Jamie Foster Brown, publisher, Sister2Sister.

Writers will find contest rules and writing tips on the Genesis web site and can also order the latest title, Singing A Song... , which introduces romance readers to diva Darnell Cameron and playboy Thad Steward, two American idols whose mutual destiny includes a mysterious stalker intent on eliminating one of them. This is award-winning author and playwright Crystal Rhodes's third Genesis novel and the first of six new titles Genesis Press will release during the contest promotion. Books are also available at retail outlets including Wal-Mart, Borders and Barnes & Noble.
