REVIEW:  Christian, known to the Technicians as the Stately Elm, is one of the finest arborists in the Northeast, a man who prunes damaged trees with precision and keeps his world in careful order. After Cranberry’s wedding, he begins to imagine a future that holds more than work. Then tragedy brings two young boys, James and Joshua, into his care, and his orderly life turns upside down.

Christian is exactly the kind of hero I love. He is capable and controlled, yet
Ms. Gaines allows him to be uncertain, stretched, and undone by people who need him. Tandy, a determined artist still finding her own way, is his match. She meets his steadiness with warmth and purpose, and their love feels earned.

The secondary characters give this story its heart. James and Joshua bring warmth and chaos in equal measure, and the music student adds layers of grief, resilience, and hope. The found-family theme is handled with care, and the pacing kept me turning pages.

Sixteen books in, Ms. Gaines still finds fresh ground in the Technicians’ world.
BLIND BEND, The Technicians Series (Book #16) is an interesting, emotionally satisfying read about what it takes to grow a family. Highly recommended.
