REVIEW: THAT FIRE, Book #30 in Monica Walters’ Henderson Family Saga, is an enjoyable read. I’ve become invested in the Henderson family, so returning to their world always feels familiar, fun, and entertaining.

Royal Henderson is enjoying his carefree lifestyle, working in the family business and avoiding anything resembling commitment. Aaliyah Anderson is equally independent—a successful schoolteacher from a well-known rodeo family who is comfortable living life on her own terms. Their worlds collide in a very unexpected way when Aaliyah discovers she is pregnant with twins, forcing both of them to confront choices neither anticipated making.

I liked Royal and Aaliyah and appreciated that Walters gave us two strong, financially independent characters who have established lives before their relationship develops. The family dynamics are also a highlight, as they often are in this series. There are funny, emotional, and heartfelt moments throughout, and I especially enjoyed seeing the Henderson family rally around one another.

Overall,
THAT FIRE is a solid and satisfying addition to the Henderson saga. Monica Walters continues to create a wonderful sense of family and community, and I enjoyed watching Royal and Aaliyah navigate their unconventional path toward love, commitment, and family.
