SIERA'S FAVORITES THINGS

· Favorite Food: Cheesy pizza. Thin, flaky crust. Enough hot cheese ropes to string down my chin, but not enough to send me to the burn unit. And please, not too oily on the fingers. I have standards.

· Favorite Movie: THINGS NEVER SAID starring Omari Hardwick. A woman trapped in an abusive marriage meets her love interest at poetry slam contest. Yes, I cried. Yes, I'd do it again. And yes, I can watch and/or read stories that include infidelity (cheaters have a story to tell, too).

· Favorite TV Show: Will Trent. The brown suits do it for me. The dog, Betty can playdate with my cat. And Will himself, he's not polished, he’s penned up. He's not debonair, he's got no interest in being your typical alpha. Yet, he’s straight gangster for those he loves. There's a quiet storm, a reserved strength to him that’s sexy. Reader, that gets me every time.

· Favorite Author: That's just cruel. Fine, it’s Theodora Taylor. You happy with yourself? Forcing me to choose…so mean. Truly, my flabbers are gasted. LOL!!!

· Favorite Song: You’re being mean again. I’ll try to answer. Operative phrase for the day is Siera will try. Depends entirely on my mood, and my mood is a whole personality. This month I'm on a dance-tune kick. I'll dance to K-pop, hip hop, R&B, country, all of it. But when I need comfort, I lean all the way back into R&B and Classic Soul. Like, Diane Ross’ theme song from Mahogany. LOL!!!

· Favorite Book: My favorite book is always the title I’m currently reading. Any book released by Theodora Taylor, Nina Crespo, Lee Child, J.R. Ward, Beverly Jenkins, P T Deutermann, Kennedy Ryan, Dylan Allen, Inez Johnson, Avery Flynn, Abby Jimenez, Lucy Score, & JJ Murray. My current genre of the heart are romantic comedies.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

· Describe a typical day for Siera. I'm up by six, mushroom coffee in hand, and I've usually talked to my mom and my best friend before eight. Then it's my three-pronged approach: read, write, market. I read world news first, then pop onto social media to say good morning and open Siera London for business. Fifteen minutes, tops, across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, with TikTok two or three days a week. Then I get to work, a combination of dictation and typing. I'm doing more LIVES these days since I'm vision-impaired; my eyes are cooked by sunset. The weekends I spend with family and friends.

· What do you enjoy most about being a writer? I'm a storyteller first, so it's about revealing the idea through the best character (s). I get completely lost in building characters who bring a theme to life and put a fresh spin on the tropes we all love — enemies-to-lovers, second chance, friends-to-lovers, the boy (or girl) next door, the fish out of water. We've seen them a hundred times. We keep reading to find out what this author's voice does with them.

· What, to you, is the most difficult part of the writing process? Knowing when to stop. The book has a beginning, middle, and end for the reader. Not for me. I've spent months, sometimes years, with these people. I know what they eat for breakfast. The hard part is choosing which little tidbits actually serve the story. It's like lunch with your friends. Someone drops one interesting thing that isn't enough to carry the whole conversation, but it adds richness. It's gravy on the mashed potatoes. The potatoes are fine without it. But a little gravy? For this Southern lady, it makes all the difference.

· HEROINES YOU KNOW, HEROES YOU LOVE AND ROMANCE YOU FEEL is displayed prominently on your website. How do the words define/describe Siera, the writer? I want women to see themselves, their sisters, their friends in my stories. The type of men I write appreciate a woman’s worth, and they are smart enough to profess their true feelings before she exits stage right. As for the romance, you can feel part of it. It’s all about SEEING the MMC and FMC opening themselves to love, which starts with trust. I show their journey to love, so that it feels authentic for characters. I want the same for my own love affair—to be seen, heard, valued, desired, and cherished.

· What do you enjoy doing when you are not writing? Warm, sunshiny days with my husband, Mr. Awesome, behind the wheel, me reclined in the seat beside him, an audiobook playing while we talk about life. He loves story. He celebrates me. And I celebrate him. Being in the presence of the person who loves and honors you… calls you to your best self, even on the hard days? Nothing better.

· What is the best book you have read so far in 2026? Why would you put me on the spot where my friends can read this?? Fine, Abby Jimenez's Part of Your World. Affluent doctor, small town, an everyman mayor living in a barn beside the family B&B, older woman/younger man, and a family legacy quietly destroying her. I felt that one in my chest.

ALL ABOUT THE BOOKS

· Tell us a bit about A HARD HABIT TO BREAK. It's a book our space needs. It’s a mash up of My Best Friend’s Wedding with a frosting of Sweet Home Alabama. It’s funny. It’s family. It’s never forgetting you define who you are in this life. Noah and Rachel once loved each other, but life demands that we choose one thing over another. They didn’t choose happily ever after. When Rachel returns home for her father’s wedding with a handsome plus one, Noah is feeling less than neighborly. I adore my bold and confident female architect. And Noah? He’s a charmer, but he's not a user. He accepts Rachel exactly as she is, even when he won't do the same for himself — always the shining star, the high school hero, the small town firefighter who does what everyone expects. He won't let the town do that to Rachel. We tackle some powerful themes with humor, and we get to watch a community choose each other over dollars and cents. In today's world, that doesn't always happen. And I incorporated my cat, Frie, in the story. Of course, I did. Who can resist a matchmaking cat?! I'm very proud of this one.

· If you had to recommend a book that best embodies you as the author, which of your books would it be? My debut, CHASING AVA. I'm a stronger writer now than I was in 2015. But I remember the passion I poured onto that page, fifteen minutes a day on my lunch break, longhand. Ava's a pediatric nurse who trusts her skills but not herself in love. She's flawed, she's hurting from a bad relationship, and she says out loud what a lot of women aren't allowed to say: I am really hurting, and I don't want to do this again. Some readers love her for it. Some resent her for it. Books are supposed to challenge our perspectives. The title says it all. Ava is chasing herself, running down the woman she was before the wrong man tried to break her. For a time, she let him. Until she didn't.

· What qualities or characteristics do you believe make your books special? I thrive to craft a relatable, engaging storyline and plot. But more than anything, I want you to FEEL. Feel my characters. Feel their anger, confusion, and disappointment. And then feel their hope blossom, the threads of love weave this tapestry of a new beginning, a fresh hope for a future with love and trust. That’s what I pour into every Siera London book.

· What is next for Siera? Any more Calvary Brothers? Any interesting projects? More Cavalry Brothers, yes! Eli got book one, Noah's got book two, and next up is Tobias, our cautious EMT with a huge secret. I'm thrilled for his story, because Tobias has surprises for the reader and himself. Also, it’s fun to write about a bookish man. Oops, did I say that? You caught me, Tobias Calvary is a writer. And I have TWO new and amazing projects I’m not supposed to mention. So, don’t tell anybody else.

ABOUT THE READERS

· If there was one thing you could tell your readers about Siera, what would it be? That I'm one of you. I love story. I still make time to read — more audiobooks now that I'm losing my vision. I love book clubs, book chats, all of it. I do my best to be a positive representation for women in the publishing industry, because it's always changing. Women are under pressure in the workplace. Books are being banned (especially in romance), a genre built by and for women. I want to be an advocate for both. Championing women being loved, cherished, and celebrated — and getting that on the page — is part of my legacy.

· What advice would you give to an aspiring author? Write your book. Don't be afraid. We open our mouths and tell stories every single day to the people we love, the people we like, and, well, everybody else. You've always told stories. Now write them down. Give yourself permission to write it exactly the way you envisioned it. The first draft is all yours, so own it. Don't think about who'll read it, like it, or what the cover looks like. Dictate it, pen it, type it. However you get the story on the page is the right way! Just tell the story that wants out.
